Pastures New…

August 29th, 2008

I’m currently in the process of moving house, into a whole new environment for me, that being Bury St. Edmunds, and obviously whilst looking at new pads we had to consider the important factor of nightlife.

As a group of guys in our mid twenties we like to drink somewhere nice with funky music and a good selection of beers, cocktails and spirits. Bury is bustling with places like this. So Bar & Benson Blakes are great but my favourite is Ambition. The bar Manager Hugo is a mean cocktail barman, the prices are reasonable and with some funky music to boot….I’ll definitely make it my regular haunt!!

All things considered, get out in Bury, I will be from now on in, then staggering home!

Bar Ambition, 22 Abbeygate Street, Bury St. Edmunds. 01284 749400

You can even book it out for private functions… and look out for warehouse club opening there soon!

Beefing it up at Boot Camp

August 29th, 2008

Its been my 5th week at Boot Camp and im addicted!   I was the girl at school, come sports day would concoct every excuse in the book not to join in.  Now I find myself, as an adult raring to go every Tuesday.

The warm up is a giggle, typically arm style, running and marching up and down  Scaltback playing field and once hot and sweaty games based on endurance, strength and cardio fitness began.  We run relays with car tyres above our heads, pull tractor tyres for 200 yards and before we were thoroughly worn out run for 400 metres with a rugby-tackling bag on our shoulders!  Oh yes, and not to forget the odd assault course or bleep test thrown in for good measure.

Its something different getting fit out doors rather than in a sweaty hot gym! Its fun, Iv met loads of new people and the team spirit is lifting.

Every Tuesday at 6.45 for 7pm start / Scaltback School  Newmarket / Call Inspire for further information 07738 936275

The Rocky Road at Elveden Estate

August 19th, 2008

A fun and interesting morning was spent at Elveden Estate today.  We were on a photo-shoot trying to capture horse riders hacking through the cross-country course.  I just wish that I were in the saddle, what a beautiful place to bring the horses and hack through Elveden Forrest with your fellow horsey friends.

After we had finished the shoot we had coffees and cake in the newly refurbished café and took a look around the shops.  New stock is coming in all the time from gardening tools, to Elveden estate luxury bathing products and fine wines from around the world. GP

Shabby Chic at Vanilla Fayre

August 19th, 2008

We are loving the whole shabby chic look at Vanilla Fayre, Bury St Edmunds.  We paid a visit today for a photo-shoot and came out with a wish list as long as our arms!  Vanilla Fayre is a gorgeous shop selling mainly one off interior pieces located at the bottom of Hatter Street.  I absolutely loved the new large gilt mirror; oh I can see it in my bedroom now! Have you been to Stone Angel yet?

August 14th, 2008

Stone Angel in Bury has now re-opend as a sophisticated ritzy bar.  We paid a visit at the weekend and were really impressed!  The drinks menu is fab, including some fine champagnes which we felt would be rude not to indulge.  The music is decadent, the decor modern with a 50’s twist and the atmosphere chilled.Pay a visit and let us know what you think on the blog. Bury’s latest: Ruin

August 11th, 2008

The newest venue to open in Bury St Edmunds is Ruin Nightclub, Located near the on going cattle market retail development Ruin has opened its doors offering both evening entertainment up stairs and a funky bar opening daily on its lower level.

It’s these types of openings that make working for a magazine all worth while and Ruin lived up to all expectations. We were especially impressed with the design of the venue and it certainly brings a fresh and welcome change to Bury’s options in nightlife The September edition of Nktbe will have a full editorial dedicated to Ruin so keep an eye out if you were at the opening as you may be featured in the feature! AB.

Hollyoaks After Party @ DeNiros

August 11th, 2008

Last Saturday saw the arrival of the Hollyoaks boys into town. We were invited along to meet the guys and take some pictures for a forthcoming editorial feature that were running in the September edition of Nktbe. Following their loss to the Q103 All Stars in a charity football match (On Penalties) fifteen of the male stars of the show descended upon DeNiros to greet the 1700 strong crowd of the biggest night club in East Anglia. Just trying to get into their VIP area was a mission with a train of party goers queuing just to see a glimpse of the TV stars. Make sure you get hold of a copy of the September edition to see your favorite faces and thanks to Nathan and his team for their hard work in getting us through the crowds! AB….
