All Hallow’s Eve

October 31st, 2008

So the harvesting season is over, the nights are drawing in (even before we finish work now) and the days are getting colder, which can only mean one thing… it’s the time of year the dead come back to visit their old homes!

Most people think that Halloween is a time to celebrate, party, dress up and go trick or treating, but the true origins of ‘All Hallows Eve’ are that of a religious matter.

It was the one day of the year, October 31st, that the god of the dead ‘ Samhain’ would allow the souls of the dead to rome the earth again and visit their homes and family from when they were living…!

This visiting of the dead caused the living to vacate their homes, and gather in the local fields with all other villagers and build bonfires to scare off all unwanted Ghouls, Ghosts and Souls…. which later lead onto Trick or treating.

All Hallows Eve is followed by all Saints days on November 1st & All Souls Day on November 2nd, all of which are commemorative events for the living to pay homage to lost souls, tell stories, recollect events and warn others of journeys into treacherous land.

However, I like the way All Hallows Eve has evolved, and it’ll be a night to remember for the rest of our lives… how ever long they may be, whether we know the true meaning or not.

I’m going to visit my regular Haunt tonight to celebrate the dead and maybe spin a few funky tunes… if you would like to join me in this age old tradition we’ll be in the White Hart in Newmarket, in fancy dress of course.

Pole Fun

October 31st, 2008

I’ve just had my second Pole dancing lesson at the Pole Fun Roadshow
and what a great time Im having.  The lessons take place in Newmarket’s
Sunlane, above Unique bar.

Im on the beginners course which involves one lesson per week for 6 weeks.
The studio is fab, girlie pink and with a sparkling disco ball for pure fun.  Heather
the instructor is amazing and like all the other girls there uses pole dancing purely for
fitness.  The work out is hard, but as its so much fun and you have to concentrate you
hardly feel like you are exercising!  Trust me the morning after you realize just how
hard you did work out though!

Anyway,I’m hooked, I cant wait to whizz threw the beginners and onto the intermediate
class.  I honestly cant recommend it enough!  To find out more the best thing to do is
call or email as new classes are due any time soon.

6 Whiting Street Photo Shoot

October 15th, 2008

Sunday the 12th of October, was a very exciting day for the Nktbe and Cubiqdesign team, as we were invited to help produce the 6 Whiting Street Autumn / Winter look book.
Myself and John were behind the lens’ snapping the gorgeous clothing that 6 have on offer, whilst Nktbe’s Andy Bellamy was in front of the cameras, pulling out his best smoldering poses!
For those of you that were out and about in Bury on Sunday, you may have seen us using the towns features as a backdrop and sprawling ourselves out over the roads to get some tricky shots.
However, the use of a £250,000 Bentley Brooklands was my favourite part of the day, a prop not a lot of people have the pleasure of working with!

Check out www.sixwhitingstreet.com to see what we were taking pictures of, and look out in future issues of Nktbe for more of our images.
